My family has not always been separated. When I was little, we had the most fun on our vacations, and my mom documented it all in photographs. For this project, I wanted to take all of my family photographs and make a collage that showed the good times. I didn't know how I was going to combine them though. I finally decided that I wanted to carve a block of wood into the word "family" and collage the photos onto that. Looking through pictures brought back many fun memories and showed me that even though my family is not together anymore, we were happy when we were one. I enjoyed making this project because I knew it was important to me and my mom. I ended out deciding to give it to her as a mother's day gift, knowing it would mean a lot to her. Family is important and you don't always have to be together to be happy. “Families are messy. Immortal families are eternally messy. Sometimes the best we can do is to remind each other that we're related for better or for worse...and try to keep the maiming and killing to a minimum.”
